Great art is a universal and natural way to promote health and well-being. It gives us peace of mind, inspiration, good feelings, happiness, and motivation. Art gently forces us to wonder and think, to take good actions that will always give us strength and inspire the same in others. Click on the link below and watch these masterpieces created by talented artists with curious minds. You’ll be amazed!
Many medical doctors welcome art to help them in treating their patients successfully. Just two examples.
“My vision for the artwork grew when a patient who was ill with cancer asked me to paint a picture for him. Suddenly I realized that I had found a way to heal many more people than the number I could see in my office every day.” These words belong to Dr. Wu, Harvard educated doctor, artist and venture capitalist. He practiced acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine at the Taoist Health Institute in Washington D.C, which he founded in 1973. One day he began creating art to interpret the holistic ideas of the traditional Chinese healing system, and his paintings have evolved into therapeutic devices, used to promote health, balance and relaxation by communicating with the inner aspects of our being. His site is at http://www.wushealingart.com
While I was researching medical professionals who practice art as one of healing devices I came across a site of Dr. Arlette Pharo, D.O. who came up with motto “Awaken Health” and founded The Healing Arts Medical Center in Houston, Dallas. Curious how to awaken your health with healing arts? Visit her clinic or look at http://www.awakenhealth.com
“It is the process of doing art that reduces stress and puts us in that “zone” of spiritual connection.”–Diana S. Boehnert
“Art does not solve problems but makes us aware of their existence. It opens our eyes to see and our brain to imagine.”–Magdalena Abakanowicz
“Nothing exists until or unless it is observed. An artist is making something exist by observing it. And his hope for other people is that they will also make it exist by observing it. I call it “creative observation.” Creative viewing.”–William S. Burroughs
“Painting is a duality and abstract painting is an entirely aesthetic thing. It always remains on one level. It is only really interesting in the beauty of its patterns or its shapes.”–Francis Bacon
“Mozart. Vivaldi. Van Gogh. Stretched their genius on struggle, stress and survival.”–Bill Canon
“My mother said to me, “If you become a soldier, you’ll be a general; if you become a monk, you’ll end up as the Pope.” Instead I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.”–Pablo Picasso
